Pontiac Sunfire locked rear brakes?
I have a Pontic Sunfire that was in an slight accident… basically while parked the guy in front of me backed into. My insurance company wants to classify it as totaled due to parts and labor and pay me juck squat for the car.
I’m fine with the cosmetic damage but the rear brakes are locked and drag instead of turning when I try to drive the car. What could be wrong here? Is the brake line pinched off not allowing the pressure to be released, Is the spring system that works the rear brakes over tightened due to the car being pushed back forcibly.
What could be the problem? I can get it fixed if I knew what was wrong but I can’t afford to leave it with a mechanic to play with it for a week and charge me an exuberant fee just to find out the problem.
forgot to mention… I don’t know if it’s related or not but the gas pedal is very difficult to push in, but it is from the same accident.
probbaly one or both of your rear brakes are siezed due to having not been in operation for a while.
try to reverse, it just might do the trick.
if not,t hen if you have drum brakes remove one wheel , release handbrake, and hit brake drum with mallet, dont be frightened to give it a good smack.
if you have disc brakes, you will have to take off outer part of brake caliper and remove and clean brake pads.
